Change Agent Highlights
Project Management Office Architect – PMOA
Tim has helped numerous organizations learn how to problem solve better, and approach projects in a structured way. The journey often led to the creation of a Project Management Office, which then paved the way towards true project management culture. Helping organizations identify the types of projects that they are trying to solve, whether it be “Brave New World” projects, or “Rinse & Repeat” projects, allowed the organizations to leverage the very best of their people and achieve their goals.
Pragmatic Problem Solver – PPS
One of Tim’s core beliefs and modus operandi is “See a problem, fix a problem!” Beyond what seems like a simple tagline is a framework and skills that have been honed over the last few decades. This includes observing what is happening, realizing what that means in the appropriate context, making decisions with the most favourable outcomes, and then acting on those decisions. This learnable approach can be applied to fix a simple plumbing issue at home, improving at a sport like basketball, or preventing a complex legal case from going to court where the real issue was actually miscommunication. A change leader will face many instances that are not just about identifying a problem, but understanding how to resolve issues by removing obstacles and getting the best possible results for all involved.
Visionary Technology Implementor & Creator – VTIC
Tim has been at the forefront of interesting technology projects for most of his career. Some highlights include:
• Bringing Internet connectivity to remote regions of Canada in the 1990s
• Designing Fiber to the Home (FTTH) business models in the early 2000s
• Building a global trailer tracking company in the mid 2010s
• Reimagined hardware, software and asset monitoring platform in the 2020s.
All these solutions were decades ahead of their competition due to the fact that Tim’s focus is to “solve a business problem with technology”, as opposed to a “technology problem looking for a solution.”
Team Builder – TB
It has long been Tim’s practice to build and maintain expert teams to achieve tangible goals. Communication is the glue, but also the core to providing any lasting solutions. Many stakeholders have different needs, motivations, egos, desired outcomes, and expectations. Tim has been effective during his consultancy projects, where cultural realities mark the difference between satisfying the majority or losing their respect. This awareness allows Tim to focus his teams on working for the clients’ best interests by helping define and manage human factors, and on aggressively applying team-knowledge to provide the best possible value.
